Steber was among the first American-trained opera singers to receive international renown. She sang at the Metropolitan Opera from 1940 to 1961, appeared at the Bayreuth Festival in 1953, and premiered Barber's Knoxville: Summer of 1915 (which she herself had commissioned!).

- Strachey, Jack (1894-1972) AMQ-16141 $30InquireAMQ, small card (3.25" h x 4.25" w), 1947. The first two bars of Strachey's most famous song, "These Foolish Things Remind Me of You", signed by him with sentiments. The popular tune was a top-ten hit for five different artists in 1936 alone.

Strauss appears on one side of a white album leaf (n.d.) and Nikisch on the other (London, 1919). They collaborated on several occasions, with Nikisch conducting Strauss' works and Strauss expressing admiration for Nikisch's interpretations. A nice association and a fine example.

(Likely signed at Boston or Philadelphia, where she held contracts that year). Teyte was the only singer to ever be accompanied by an orchestra with Debussy at the piano.
