- Page 9 -- Webster, Margaret (1905-1972) ALS-16146 $50InquireALS, small folding thank you card, n/d. The American-British actress, producer, and director, who became the first woman to direct a production at the Metropolitan Opera (Don Carlo, 1950), writes to thank Met coach Alberta Masiello. It is possible she sent this note immediately following that pioneering production, as she notes: If I have to do opera again at all, I wish you would always be around. Webster would direct additional productions at the Met in 1951 and 1959. Uncommon and in excellent condition.

- Whitehill, Clarence (1871-1932) PHO-00346 $25InquirePHO, signed, 1923. The American bass-baritone, known best for his Wagnerian roles, signs and inscribes a Mishkin sepia bust-length portrait photograph. Inscribed to dentist and arts patron Oliver Austin. 8" h x 6" w. Inscription with some minor ink corrosion, but otherwise good.
