PIANO - AN AMUSING DRAWING

Signed "Alfred Oppenheim".

Frankfurt, July 7, 1908. c. 6.75" h x 5.25" w. In good condition. Evenly browned; a little ragged around the edges with repaired tear at left (affecting pianist's chair).
A charming and amusing little drawing, evidently taken from an album, drawn and signed by the German artist Alfred Oppenheim (1873-1953), who was known for his portraits and landscapes.

Note how the legs of the pianist form the word Liebe (love). The piano legs and the notes to the right are meant, perhaps, to read Nach (still). Oppenheim has signed the page after an inscription of encouragement that includes the phrase art is long but life is short.
