PIANO - EARLY NINETEENTH CENTURY

J. Nichols & Son, London, July 1, 1808. Total size in mat: 15.25" h x 14.75" w (39 cm x 37.5 cm). Total size of print: 13.5" h x 11" w (34 cm x 28 cm). In very good condition and with wide margins. (A couple light creases).
An engraved nearly full portrait of a gentleman named David Wells seated at the piano.

Possibly a first state. There was at least one reissue of the print by the same publisher in 1815.

David Wells was an antiquarian and member of the Society of Antiquaries of London, as indicated by the F.S.A. after his name. The society was established in 1707 and received a royal charter 1751 to further the study of antiquities and history of this and other countries. The society still operates today.
