A Genius.
G. S. Tregear, London, September 1834. Total size in mat: 20" h x 16" w (51 cm x 41.5 cm). Total size of print: 14.5" h x 10.75" w (37 cm x 27.5 cm). In excellent condition. (A few light marginal stains, all covered by mat).A lithographic English caricature entitled A Genius, showing a man with an exaggerated forehead in a blue coat and yellow breeches holding a large violin. The whole is amusingly captioned: THIS [sic] FIDDLE I made out of my OWN HEAD And I have enough WOOD to make ANOTHER.
This lithograph is No. 28 in G. S. Tregear's series Flights of Humor. Tregear specialized in satirical lithographs, but little else is known about him.
