Satire on OthelloLondon. First half of the 19th-Century, published by J.L. Marks. Total size in mat: 24.25" h x 19" w (616 mm x 483 mm). Overall very good and decoratively matted (2 sheets of 2 plates each, with former frae marks showing under mat).
An anti-black satire made up of 4 panels relaying the story of Othello. The Othello figure is drawn grotesquely while the other (white) characters are portrayed in a relatively straight-forward manner.
This caricature might possibly have been issued after the first performance of Rossini's opera Otello which premiered in London in 1822.GPH-12475$250
