A charming original glossy black-and-white photograph of the renowned pianist, who smiles broadly at his daughter, Sonia, while the pair share a day at the beach. Although the photograph is undated, Sonia was born in 1934, so it cannot date to much later than 1935.

Sonia also happened to be Toscanini's granddaughter, Horowitz having married Wanda, the conductor's daughter, in 1933. Sonia was their only child.

Horowitz performed for the first time with his father-in-law one year before Sonia's birth, selecting Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 5 for the occasion. They would go on to perform and record together many more times, including with Toscanini's famed NBC Symphony Orchestra.
