Signed in white ink by: Andres de Segurola (who sang Spalanzani), Albert Reiss (Cochenille; Franz), Jeanne Mauborg (Nicklausse), and Karl Jörn (Hoffmann).

Offenbach's Tales of Hoffmann made its Metropolitan debut in January of 1913, more than thirty years after the work's premiere in Paris. The tradition of using one singer to impersonate Hoffmann's multiple nemeses throughout the opera began at the Metropolitan in 1937 with Lawrence Tibbett.
