White margins dusty with several creases and tear at top.The English pianist is shown sitting in profile, and has signed and inscribed the image in the lower white margin. A nice example, inscribed to Rudolph Wurlitzer and his wife Marie. Rudolph was the son of the founder of the Rudolph Wurlitzer Company of musical instruments and he developed the rare stringed instrument department.
English-born pianist Harold Bauer studied in Paris under Paderewski and began his career touring Europe in the 1890s. He then made his American debut in 1900 with the Boston Symphony Orchestra, giving the U.S. premiere of Brahms's Piano Concerto No. 1. He soon after settled in the States, where, in addition to performing, he would head the Piano Department of the Manhattan School of Music and found the Beethoven Association.
