Signed and inscribed to the noted Hungarian pianist Ilona Eibenchütz on the title page: A la celèbre pianist Ilona Eibenschütz avec admiration, F. da Venezia.
Franco da Venezia was an Italian pianist, composer, and teacher. His sizeable output included many sonatas, concertos, and incidental music for piano, but also some large-scale orchestral pieces. Verdi's frequent collaborator, Arrigo Boito, called Venezia a "very noble musical genius."
