SAINT CECILIA - FRENCH ENGRAVING

French, most likely very early 18th-century. Total size in mat: 15.5" h x 13" w. In excellent condition.
This copper engraving, entitled in Latin Cantabo Domino in vita mea. Psal. 103.v.33, is a fine copy and shows a singer holding sacred music, the subject being Saint Cecilia, the patron saint of music. It is the work of the French engraver Gaspard Duchange (1662-1722) after a painting by Antoine Copyel (1661–1722). Coypel was court painter first to the Duke of Orléans and later to the French king.
