Graun, Carl Heinrich (1703/4-1759)

Der Tod Jesu. Passions-Cantate von C. W. Ramler. Vollständiger Clavierauszug.

N. Simrock: Bonn, [c 1826, as per plate number]. Pl.n: 2497. Engraved. Oblong quarto. 70 pp. Brown leather spine with green embossed buckram boards. A nice copy in good condition. Spine heavily chipped; boards scuffed. Some foxing and bleedthrough, but otherwise clean.
Graun's oratorio Der Tod Jesu was the most frequently performed Passion in eighteenth-century Germany. Its popularity helped Graun to become a public figure beyond the Berlin court, where he served as Kapellmeister from 1741.
