Berlioz, Hector (1803-1869)

Copyist Manuscript of Le Chant des Bretons.

Small folio. 3 pp. of a bifolio + two parts each, on two sides of 1 p. , for 1st tenor, 2nd tenor, 1st bass, and 2nd bass. Very good condition.
A manuscript in ink which appears to be a period French copyist manuscript: a piano/vocal score of Le Chant de Bretons (The song of the Bretons), with parts for piano, first and second tenors, and first and second basses. The work, which sets a patriotic poem by Auguste Brizeux, is a rousing celebration for France's Second Empire. It was composed in 1835 and Berlioz included it later in his 1850 collection Fleurs des landes (Op. 13, No. 5).
