TRUMPET - BLUE GLASS

English, 19th century. 19.75" long (50.2 cm).
A cobalt blue glass trumpet with a ribbed body, integral mouthpiece and terminating in a faceted bell.
Trumpets like these were made in various glass workshops in the Bristol area of Britain, using left-over glass. They are referred to as Nailsea glass because the original factory was in the small town of Nailsea, founded by John Robert Lucas in 1788 and closed down in 1873.
