FLUTE - HAWAIIAN NOSE FLUTEClick Image to ZoomEnlarge Image

Hawaii, with good age. 2.25" long (5.5 cm). Made from a gourd. In its apparently-original handmade wooden box. In excellent condition with a nice patina.
A Hawaiian nose flute known as an Ipu Hokiokio, being a small pear-shaped flute with three finger holes. Bottom retains part of a former museum label, reading "Hon. Acad., no.9118 / Warinn?" (possibly the former owner?) Apparently deaccessioned from the Honolulu Academy of Arts which was founded in 1922.
