England, first half of the 19th century. 9" long in closed position (23cm).Mahogany plunger-style double pitch pipe, the two plungers overlaid with veneer in lighter colored wood inscribed in ink with a chromatic scale from C to C'.
This pitch pipe was probably made for a choral director to give simultaneous pitches to a choir.
