TRUMPET - CLEAR GLASS

19th-cenutury glass trumpet

England. 56" long (142.2 cm). Dimension of bell is 4.5" (11.4 cm).
An elegant and unusually long trumpet made of spiral-fluted clear glass with a single loop and lobed integral mouthpiece.
Trumpets like these were made in various glass workshops in the Bristol area of Britain, using left-over glass. They are referred to as Nailsea glass because the original factory was in the small town of Nailsea, founded by John Robert Lucas in 1788 and closed down in 1873.

A fine and unusual example.
