French, third quarter of the 19th c. 17.5 in wide, 10 in deep. Adjustable from 45.5" up to 55" (44.45 cm x 25.4 cm x 115.57 cm to 139.7 cm). In excellent condition. Small chip to column near peg.
This Napoleon III French music stand, known in French as a lutrin, is crafted from solid walnut and features a lyre-shaped form emblematic of the Napoleon III period. The upper crest is adorned with a decorative rosette and slender brass rods framed by scrolling brass arms, reflecting classical musical motifs. The reading ledge includes a small brass peg for securing sheet music or books. The height is adjustable via a slender iron rod and is locked in place with the original brass key. The column rises from a turned walnut pedestal base with a rich, warm patina.
