Bloch, Ernest (1880-1959)

SIG of the Swiss-American composer of Schelomo, inscribed to Irene Gallagher with best wishes. Small horizontal album leaf, New York, 1921.

Gallagher was the longtime assistant of publisher Max Drefyus. She knew all the up-and-coming composers of the day, including Jerome Kern, Richard Rodgers, and Lorenz Hart, and even briefly dated a young George Gershwin. This leaf is a very nice connection between Bloch and Gallagher.
