The eminent French violinist settled in London where he became in 1845 a professor at the Royal Academy of Music until his death. He was also soloist to Queen Victoria and prominent in provincial festivals. He has written a six-bar treble line entitled à deux, written as a souvenir of friendship to the German violinist Louis Ries (1530-1913, son of Hubert and nephew of Ferdinand).
Sainton was also a composer, writing violin solos and two violin concertos.
