Schumann, Clara (1819-1896)

Autograph Letter Signed

"Clara Schumann". To Mme. Chappell. London, March 1, 1872. Three pages of a small folded sheet. Shows markings from former framing and indentations from former paper clip (last blank page soiled with a little bleed-through and with pasted identification), but otherwise good.
Letter in English from Clara Schumann to Mme. Chappell, undoubtedly of the famed Chapell music publishers. While on tour in England, she requests that rooms be reserved for her at the Railway Hotel rather than at the Adelphi, as she has heard it is very good and not more expensive.
Clara Schumann was immensely popular in Great Britain and offered no fewer than 19 concert tours in the British Isles throughout her performing career.
