"Raoul Pugno". June 8, 1894. Total mat size: 14" h x 20" w. 1 p. In very good condition.
Pugno writes to a lady concerning taking on her young daughter as a pupil. In French and on Soirées de Musique d'Ensemble letterhead; a nice example. Matted next to a printed portrait photograph with facsimile musical quotation and signature beneath.
Pugno was one of the most important French pianists of the late nineteenth century and an important exponent of Mozart, Debussy, and Franck. His partnership with the violinist Eugène Ysaÿe was also long and celebrated.
