Ondricek, Emanuel (1880-1953)
Typed Letter Signed
"E. Ondricek". To Mr. Frankel. December 20, 1949. Quarto. 1 p. on Ondricek Studios of Violin Art letterhead. In very good condition. Typical folds and a bit toned at top.The Czech violinist writes to a Mr. Frankel, who evidently inquired about performance opportunities with the Washington Orchestra. Ondricek recommends that the man stick to New York and get some jobs there⦠However, I would advise you to practice more as I found you rusty as a door nail. (Especially the tone!) Something might pop up unexpectedly and it will catch you unprepared.
Ondricek also suggests that the recipient contact Sevitzky of the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra for an audition: Tell him that you are much more experienced now than before, having played in orchestra in Providence, etc.
Emanuel Ondricek was born into a family of violin prodigies. Upon immigrating to the United States in 1910, he established a teaching studio and became one of the leading pedagogues of the day.
