Schuman writes to the violinist Carroll Glenn (wife of the pianist Eugene List) to discuss a project she proposed in honor of the World's Fair involving a string bank.
American composer William Schuman, known especially for his Symphony for Strings, was also an important arts administrator, serving as president of the Juilliard School (1946-1961) and Lincoln Center (1961-1969). He was also a founding member of the Juilliard String Quartet.
