Virdung, Sebastian (c1465-?)

Musica getutscht 1511

Robert Eitner. Trautwein: Berlin, [1882]. Small oblong octavo. 111 pp, heavy laid paper, deckel edges. Dark blue paper covers. Front detached, internally excellent.
The earliest printed source describing musical instruments and practice. This work was the source for some of the most famous later treatises, most notably Agricola's Musica Instrumentalis (1529). This is earliest of three modern facsimiles of this seminal work, and quite scarce.
