REED ORGAN

Metzler

An English Bible Organ.

London, late 19th or early 20th century. 2' long (61 cm) x 1' wide (30.5 cm) x 6" high (15.2 cm). Overall in very good condition (the two-piece top slightly separating at the seam). Playable but would need adjustments.
The harmonium is labeled on the inside of the lid, which has a folding music rack: METZLER & Co. LTD / 42 GREAT MARLBOROUGH ST. LONDON". The outer case is oak and designed to resemble a large bible when closed. The keyboard encompasses 3 1/2 octaves with keys of celluloid and the sharps of ebonized wood. The bellows are painted royal blue with red edges.
Bible-shaped organs such as this one were probably the last ones produced and are quite scarce.
