SCHNABEL & FLESCH ENSEMBLE PORTRAIT WITH SIGNATURES

Schnabel, Artur (1882-1951)

Decoratively matted with an overall size of 10.75" h x 19" w. Vertical crease in Schnabel signature; the Flesch signature slightly soiled; photograph a little silvered; overall condition is very attractive.
A signature of the great German pianist, Artur Schnabel, signed "Artur Schnabel" and dated "Vienna 5. Nov. 1929", paired with a signature of the equally renowned Hungarian violinist and pedagogue Carl Flesch, signed "Carl Flesch". The signatures flank a postcard photograph by Dursthoff of Berlin showing the two at the piano studying a score.
Flesch and Schnabel often worked together in pre-World War II Germany, and Flesch was a member of Schnabel's esteemed trio.
