Collet, Alexandre-Désiré (1814-1876)

Paris, 1850. Matted with a total size of 10.5” h x 8.25” w (26.7 cm x 21 cm). Very minor foxing in margins, otherwise fine.
A lithographic plate from the Manuel Elémentaire de Musique by Sigismond Stern (Paris, 1850), prepared for use by the Conservatory of Paris and the Military Academy of Paris. The plates of the Manuel show the prize winners of 1849 from these institutions and are well-known for their accurate depictions, both of the instruments and the playing positions. This plate portrays L.A. Mante, who won the prize for double bass that year.
