
HORN: POST-HORN WITH ORIGINAL CASE
London, Late 19th century. 53.25" long including mouthpiece (135.3 cm). Minor dents in bell, otherwise in fine condition. Case in very good condition.A copper and brass English post-horn (also called coach horn) with its original leather case. The case is stamped: MARTIN & MARTIN / NEW YORK / PHILADELPHIA / LONDON / LONDON HARNESS AGENTS". Stamped on the bell, surrounded by a trademark of trumpet and banner: "TRADEMARK / BOOSEY / BOOSEY & Co / MAKERS / 295 REGENT STr / LONDON ENG. / 57151 / & / 9 EAST 17th STt / NEW YORK". The silver-plated mouthpiece is stamped "BOOSEY & Co LONDON".
It is unusual to find a post-horn which still retains its original case.
