Aus der Ohe, Adele (1861-1937)
Carte de Visite.
n.d. In excellent condition. Unsigned.A scarce visiting card, unsigned and with a black mourning border, of the famed German pianist and composer who performed Tchaikovsky's Piano Concerto No. 1 in B-flat minor with Tchaikovsky conducting more times than any other pianist. A child prodigy, at the age of twelve she became a student of Franz Liszt and worked with him for the rest of his life, having one of the longest associations of any of his students.
Aus der Ohe performed at some of the most notable musical events of her day: in England she was a soloist for the London Philharmonic's Diamond Jubilee concert honoring 60 years of Queen Victoria's reign, in Berlin she performed as part of the four-hundredth Jubilee Soiree of the Royal Orchestra, in New York at the opening festivities at Carnegie Hall with Tchaikovsky, and in Saint Petersburg at Tchaikovsky's memorial concert.
