Typed Letter Signed
"Fritz Reiner". To Siegmund Levarie. New York, December 14, 1952. 1 p. on letterhead. In excellent condition. Small hole from staple at top left (not affecting). Written as he assumed conductorship of the Chicago Symphony.
The Hungarian-born legendary conductor thanks music scholar Siegmund Levarie for his well wishes shortly after assuming the conductorship of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra: I am looking forward with the greatest pleasure to my new musical associations.
Reiner would serve as the Chicago Symphony's conductor for ten years. As the many recordings he made with the ensemble attest, his work there is considered the finest of his career.
