Ensemble with Autograph Receipt Signed "R. Schumann". Leipzig, Nov. 2, 1839. The ensemble is in a custom mat with gold edging with a total size of 16" h x 12.25" w. Fine condition, with three vertical folds (one vertical fold passing through a single letter of the signature).
The great German romantic composer, close friend of Brahms, and husband of the acclaimed pianist Clara Schumann has written an autograph note confirming the receipt of five Saxonian thalers from Mr. Whessling. Matted with a scarce contemporary engraved portrait of the composer.
