Stunning image of the English tenor Peter Pears in the role he originated of Benjamin Britten's Peter Grimes, which was written for him. The photograph is inscribed to his close friend and vocal teacher Clytie Mundy.
The English tenor Peter Pears was the life and professional partner of the great English composer Benjamin Britten for 37 years, until Britten's death in 1976. It was for Pears that Britten created some of his seminal compositions, including The Serenade for Tenor, Horn and Strings and the operas Billy Budd and Peter Grimes.
