Dutch, c. 1592. 9.7" h x 6.9" w (24.6 cm x 17.4 cm). Total size in mat: 18" h x 14" w (45.7 cm x 35.6 cm). A fine impression in excellent condition (a very slight crease on lower right). Good quarter-inch+ margins.
A finely-executed engraving showing a bagpiper playing seated at a table while a woman raises her hands above him and another man drinks from a jug while a dog rests at his feet. The first state with the Latin text; lettered with two columns of Latin, each four lines "Mandamus ... procacem". Numbered 3 on lower left and also on right.
