TROMBONE - CARICATURE

Chenard, A. F.

New York, mid-19th century. Matted with a total size of 13" h x 15" w (33 cm x 38 cm). Light staining and some very faint creases, otherwise fine.
A lithograph by A.F. Chenard, numbered "10", printed in New York by J. Langdon. The stout, nattily-dressed man playing a trombone, is from a series originally published c.1830 in Germany and which was in turn after a group of popular figurines made by Anton Sohn in 1799.
