Cage, John

Silence: Lectures And Writings.

Signed "John Cage" on the title page. Wesleyan University Press: Middletown, CT, 1961. Quarto. 276 pp. Black buckram with original dj in mylar. Overall very good; slight rubbing to cover.
Pioneering American composer John Cage earned international renown following the publication of his first book, Silence: Lectures and Writings. The collection of essays and experimental texts gained widespread attention, and though it led some to mistake Cage for a philosopher rather than a musician, he soon received enough commissions and speaking invitations to work full time writing music.
