Ensemble with Signature and Original Cabinet Photo Signed

"G. Henschel". Breslau, 1 April [18]91. Total size in mat 10.25" h x 15.50" w. Overall very good, photograph a little soiled, one tiny smudge on signature.
George Henschel was a baritone, pianist, composer and conductor. He was also known as a great accompanist and often performed with his American wife, the soprano Lillian Bailey, especially at the time that he wrote this sentiment. He was the first conductor of the Boston Symphony. Above his signature he has penned "Mausefallen?" possibly a reference to Mausfallenspruchlein by Hugo Wolf.
